In general, the designs that seem to sell the best are super clean and crisp and readable and simple and great. They have these characteristics:
- big, bold, all caps text
- one color, maybe two
- one piece of easily recognizable, crisp art
- maybe an element of humor
- maybe a rhyme
- not very many lines of text
- immediately readable / recognizable
If your text is arched it should be all caps-it just looks way better.
Most of the popular designs on our site do not have a text outline color, but if they do, the outline color contrasts sharply against the text color. Black-White. Brown-Yellow. Avoid outline colors that are roughly the same tone as the text color, like Red-Blue.
Of course these are just suggestions-it's possible for a design to ignore these rules and still find success.
